Tirupati: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) on Sunday inaugurated a first-aid centre at the Seventh Mile on the Alipiri footpath route to strengthen medical support for pedestrian pilgrims. The facility was inaugurated by TTD chairman B. R. Naidu in the presence of executive officer Anil Kumar Singhal and additional EO Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary.
Speaking to the media, Naidu said the first-aid centre had been established to provide immediate medical assistance to pilgrims undertaking the footpath journey to Tirumala. He said the facility would help address health emergencies during the trek and noted that a similar centre was already functioning on the Srivari Mettu footpath.
Addressing the gathering, Chowdary said the centre was part of efforts to expand medical facilities for pilgrims. Equipped with basic modern amenities, the first-aid centre along the Alipiri footpath would be of significant use, as nearly 20,000 to 30,000 pilgrims use the route daily. He said pilgrims facing health issues during the climb could now access medical care without delay.
He also pointed out that the centre’s location near the down ghat road would enable even vehicle users to avail themselves of medical services when required. Pilgrims were urged to make use of the facility and share feedback and suggestions to help improve services further.
