Fireworks Shop Blast Kills Trader, Injures Watchman

VIJAYAWADA: A fireworks trader was killed and a watchman suffered burns when a fire broke out at a fireworks shop in Boppidi village of Chilakaluripet rural mandal in Palnadu district on Friday night.
According to Chilakaluripet rural police, the incident occurred when Sanjay, teenage son of shop owner Bhuma Suresh, attempted a trial run of a single-shot cracker near the shop. The cracker allegedly changed direction after being lit and entered the fireworks shop, triggering a fire and setting off other fireworks.
Suresh, 43, suffered severe burns and died while undergoing treatment at a government hospital in Chilakaluripet. Watchman Mastan Rao suffered 40 per cent burns and was undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Police registered a case and took up an investigation.
