VIJAYAWADA: Municipal administration and urban development minister P. Narayana on Wednesday assured farmers of Vaddamanu village in the Amaravati capital region that land pooling would be taken up without causing any hardship, asserting that all farmers were positively inclined towards the initiative.

Addressing the media after interacting with farmers at Vaddamanu in Thullur mandal, he said development in Amaravati had suffered setbacks due to the mismanagement of the previous government since 2019, with frequent litigation and policy reversals slowing down infrastructure work and causing difficulties for farmers.

The minister visited the village along with Tadikonda MLA T. Sravan Kumar and CRDA additional commissioner Bhargav Teja to clarify farmers’ doubts on pooling land for key capital projects, including a railway station, International Sports City and the Inner Ring Road.

He said the government planned to pool 16,666 acres for major development projects such as the International Sports City, international airport and smart industries — initiatives that would boost land value and ensure long-term economic benefits for farmers.

“All farmers here are in favour of land pooling. Not a single farmer has opposed it,” Narayana said, adding that previous experiences had been studied to ensure no farmer faced difficulties this time. Grievances would be resolved in coordination with the local MLA, while issues requiring policy decisions would be raised with the Chief Minister.

Officials were instructed to construct an approach road to Vaddamanu village immediately. The minister said DPRs were being prepared for infrastructure development in 29 capital region villages, with a separate DPR for Vaddamanu as well.

In a notable gesture, three farmers voluntarily handed over land documents for pooling even before formal notification — Maineni Satyanarayana (five acres), Pinnaka Tarun Sai (two acres) and Nidadavolu Sivaparvathi (four acres) — reflecting their confidence in the government’s plans.
