Anantapur: A farmer was sentenced to two years of imprisonment by the Madakasira Magistrate Court on Friday in connection with the death of a person who was electrocuted after coming into contact with the fencing of a pomegranate orchard in Madakasira Mandal, Satya Sai district.

Sources said that Prasad, a resident of Buddayapalem village in Madakasira Mandal, was near the orchard of farmer B. Hanumantha Rayappa when he came into contact with the electric fencing. The fencing had been supplied with electricity without any preventive measures.

Prasad died on the spot in December 2020, and the Madakasira police registered a case based on a complaint from the deceased's family members.

On Friday, the Magistrate Court pronounced its verdict, sentencing orchard owner Hanumantha Rayappa to two years in prison for being responsible for the death of an innocent person.
