Ex-MLA says aqua sector crumbling under coalition rule
He pointed out that prices of aqua products have crashed following tariffs and the government siding with traders, instead of the 1.5 lakh aqua farmers.
KAKINADA: YSRC West Godavari president and former MLA Mudunuri Prasada Raju slammed the NDA coalition government alleging it is allowing syndicates backed by its leaders to exploit aqua farmers.
He pointed out that prices of aqua products have crashed following tariffs and the government siding with traders, instead of the 1.5 lakh aqua farmers.
The YSRC leader pointed out that while input costs have risen, prices of fish have fallen. But unlike the price-regulating committee that the erstwhile YSRC government had formed, the alliance government had done no such thing. Instead the state government has cut subsidies and failed to regulate traders from making high profits.
Prasada Raju demanded that immediate steps be taken to control input costs and support exports, so that aqua farmers do not continue to suffer losses.
