Ex-Minister Gunda Cremated With State Honors
Later, family members lit the pyre according to religious rites.
Visakhapatnam:Former minister and veteran TD leader Gunda Appala Suryanarayana was cremated with full state honors in Srikakulam on Tuesday. He died of head injuries on Monday.
Agriculture minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu placed a wreath on his mortal remains and paid rich tributes. Subsequently, police forces and band parties rendered a salute of honour by firing three rounds into the air. Later, family members lit the pyre according to religious rites.
On behalf of the administration, district collector Swapnil Dinakar Pundkar, joint-collector Ahmed Khan, district superintendent of police Maheshwar Reddy, and Srikakulam and Tekkali RDOs Krishnamurthy and Sai Prathyusha were present and remembered Suryanarayana’s services.
Srikakulam MLA Gondu Shankar, Narasannapeta MLA Baggu Ramanamurthy, Cheepurupalli MLA Kimidi Kala Venkatrao, Amadalavalasa MLA Kuna Ravikumar, Pathapatnam MLA Mamidi Govindarao and Etcherla MLA Nadukuditi Eswara Rao visited Suryanarayana's mortal remains and offered floral tributes.
Former Speaker Tammineni Sitaram, former ministers Dharmana Krishna Prasad Rao and Dharmana Krishna Das and leaders from various political parties along with thousands of workers were present.
Born on January 16 in 1948, Suryanarayana began his political career as municipal chairman in 1981 and was elected continuously from the Srikakulam Assembly constituency between 1985 and 2004. He was twice a minister.
