VISAKHAPATNAM: Former YSRC minister Dr Seediri Appala Raju was granted bail by the Munsif Magistrate Court in Palasa, Srikakulam district, on Friday.

Appala Raju was sent to judicial remand in Srikakulam on charges of tampering with evidence in a road accident case involving his son Aarav Varma on July 10, in which a shepherd, Danayya, was killed. The former minister was lodged in Ampolu jail in Srikakulam.

Police alleged that Appala Raju tried to influence the registration of a case against another youth instead of his son. Aarav Varma was later identified through CCTV footage as the rider involved in the accident.

He was also accused of pressuring the victim’s family and attempting to tamper with evidence related to the case.
