Ex-Mayor Seeks Probe Into Misuse Of Nellore Mayor’s Office
Sravanthi said photographs from the meeting, reportedly showing a “Nellore Mayor” banner in the background at an office in China, have surfaced.
Nellore: Former Nellore mayor and present corporator Sravanthi Jayavardhan has demanded an immediate inquiry into the alleged misuse of the mayoral office by deputy mayor Roop Kumar Yadav.
Addressing media on Tuesday, Sravanthi alleged that Roop Kumar has presented himself as the “Mayor of Nellore” at a business meeting in China, thereby misusing the designation to promote his own business interests and secure financial gains.
Sravanthi said photographs from the meeting, reportedly showing a “Nellore Mayor” banner in the background at an office in China, have surfaced. At the time, she said she had been serving as Nellore’s mayor. The former mayor said these photographs have been brought to her attention by former minister Anil Kumar Yadav.
Sravanthi claimed that despite lodging complaints with the Nellore municipal commissioner and the police five days ago, no inquiry had been initiated so far. She went on to allege that Raman Kumar, representing MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, had participated in the China meeting along with Roop Kumar.
The former mayor demanded that Roop Kumar be booked under the SC, SC Act and arrested for harassing and humiliating her. She also wanted MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy to resign.
Sravanthi warned that if no action is taken, she would stage a protest along with tribal people outside the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi.
