Engg College to Come up at Vikrama Simhapuri University

Nellore: The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to establish an engineering college at Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) in the Sarvepalli Assembly constituency, paving the way for improved higher education opportunities in the region.

The college will initially offer four industry-oriented programmes—Computer Science Engineering (CSE), Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI-ML), Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI-DS), and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). Each programme will have an intake of 60 students, taking the total annual intake to 240 seats.

In a major boost for students from backward classes, the government has also decided to provide boarding and lodging facilities for BC students.

Welcoming the decision, Sarvepalli MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said the move would enable students from Nellore district to pursue professional education closer to home in emerging technology disciplines with strong employment prospects.

The MLA expressed gratitude to education minister Nara Lokesh for facilitating the proposal and thanked bc welfare minister Savitha for extending support. He also noted that a BC Gurukul Junior College had already been established at Golagamudi and said the engineering college would further strengthen the region's educational infrastructure.
