Eluru: SC Hostel Warden Suspended For Expelling Girl Student At Night
The Minister directed the Social Welfare Department and the District Collector to conduct an inquiry and submit a report. Following an inquiry into the matter, District Collector Vetri Selvi suspended the hostel warden.
Eluru: Andhra Pradesh Minister for Housing and I&PR, Kolusu Parthasarathy, took serious note of an incident where a student was forced out of the Chintalapudi SC Girls’ Hostel at night by the warden. Following an inquiry and after seeking details from officials, the warden was suspended.
The Minister directed the Social Welfare Department and the District Collector to conduct an inquiry and submit a report. Following an inquiry into the matter, District Collector Vetri Selvi suspended hostel warden Swapna, and another person was appointed as the in-charge hostel warden.
The incident came to light after warden Swapna allegedly sent out a Class 8 student from the hostel at night because she asked for a blanket.
Reacting to the coverage published in a vernacular daily on the girl’s ordeal, Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy ordered an inquiry, prompting action from Collector Vetri Selvi. Social Welfare officials will formally begin their inquiry from Monday. The student and her parents have been asked to appear for the proceedings.
