Eluru: A property dispute turned fatal on Monday after a man was hacked to death in broad daylight at Perampeta village of Jangareddygudem mandal, allegedly by his nephew, leading to tense moments in the village.
The deceased was identified as Karumuri Durga Reddy. According to reports, the attack was allegedly carried out by the victim’s brother’s son, Karumuri Srinivas Reddy, and his associates near the Rythu Bharosa Kendra in Perampeta. Family members allege the murder was linked to an ongoing land and property dispute
Jangareddygudem police rushed to the spot soon after receiving information and took stock of the situation. A case has been registered, and an investigation has begun. Police examined the crime scene and made arrangements to shift the body for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, family members of the deceased staged a protest demanding the immediate arrest of the accused and refused to allow the body to be shifted, creating tension in the village. A large number of villagers gathered near the crime scene. Keeping in view the law and order situation, police deployed additional security in the village to prevent any untoward incidents.T
The relatives also alleged that they had earlier informed police about threats to Durga Reddy’s life, but no action was taken, and instead bind-over cases were filed against them.
Jangareddygudem police stated that they are probing the case from all angles and are examining injuries on the body, recording statements of eyewitnesses, and collecting other evidence. Further details are awaited.
