Panic gripped Chinna Ramapuram village after a herd of elephants entered the area, with locals blaming forest officials for failing to prevent recurring incursions.

A herd of elephants entered Chinna Ramapuram village in Chandragiri mandal on Sunday, creating panic among residents. Villagers said they locked their doors and remained indoors in fear as the elephants moved through the area.

Locals said the elephants have been roaming near the villages for the past week, but forest officials have failed to take adequate preventive measures. They alleged that the negligence of forest authorities has allowed the animals to venture close to human habitations.
Forest department officials rushed to the spot and drove the elephants back into the forest. They said the movement of the herd is being closely monitored to prevent further entry into nearby villages.
