Elaborate Arrangements Underway for Srisailam Maha Shivaratri Brahmotsavams
Temple authorities said arrangements were discussed department-wise and instructions issued to complete all works within stipulated timelines
Anantapur: The Srisailam Temple Trust has begun elaborate preparations for the 11-day Maha Shivaratri Brahmotsavams, scheduled from February 8 to 18, with Maha Shivaratri falling on February 15.
Following a review meeting, temple authorities said arrangements were discussed department-wise and instructions issued to complete all works within stipulated timelines. Executive Officer M. Srinivasa Rao said preparations are being made in accordance with state government directions, with the support of the district administration and the Board of Trustees.
As devotees are expected to arrive well ahead of the festival, departments were asked to expedite works and ensure quality. Anticipating a higher footfall than last year, authorities plan to provide 20–30 per cent additional facilities wherever possible.
Special focus is being placed on amenities for foot pilgrims at Nagalooti, Pedda Cheruvu, Bheemuni Kolanu, Kailasa Dwaram and Sakshi Ganapati in the Nallamala forest, with coordination between the engineering and forest departments.
Large open areas will be fitted with pipe pandals and adequate lighting. Queue lines will be strengthened, toilets repaired, and safety measures enhanced at Patalaganga bathing points, including repairs to the stairway.
Additional parking areas, clear signage, luggage cloakrooms and traffic regulation measures are being arranged. For devotees’ convenience, 20 additional laddu counters will be set up, taking the total to 30, and Anna Prasadam distribution will be scaled up with support from voluntary organisations.
