Nellore: Welcoming ED entry to investigate liquor scam in Andhra Pradesh, Sarvepalli legislator Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said in a post in X that he had already stated that this scam is not limited to Rs 3,200 crore. It is a massive scandal surpassing Rs 10,000 crore,” the leader alleged.

He further revealed that the scam also involves large-scale money laundering and is even bigger than the infamous Bofors, 2G, and Delhi liquor scams.

“I had warned on the 25th of last month that once the Enforcement Directorate (ED) steps in, the entire truth would come to light,” he added.

With the ED officially entering the investigation, he expressed his appreciation, saying, “Finally, thanks to the ED for stepping in.”

Meanwhile, Somireddy warned of strict action against encroachments on public open spaces during his visit to Satyanarayana Layout in Podalakur, where a Rs 4 crore worth open space across 286 plots is under threat.

He directed officials to initiate plans for a boundary wall and assured locals that a park would be developed as per public demand. Somireddy criticised developers for violating norms by either not leaving the mandatory 10% open space or selling it off later.

He revealed a local Panchayat secretary was suspended for submitting conflicting reports on the land, which the court confirmed as public open space. He condemned attempts to create fake documents for land grabbing.

“Open spaces are crucial for schools, temples, and children’s play areas. Both officials and citizens must ensure their protection,” he said.
