Hyderabad: In a key development in the liquor scam case, officials of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) have arrested Sunil, son of former minister Karumuri Venkata Nageswara Rao in connection with the liquor scam.
According to investigators, Sunil allegedly facilitated the execution of a transportation sub-contract from Sigma Supply Chain Solutions Private Limited (SSCPSL), which is suspected to be a front entity of the syndicate, in favour of Sudarsana Constructions.
Sources said Sunil reportedly told business associates V. Sandeep and Kalluri Surya Pratap Reddy that his father shared close ties with APSBCL Managing Director D. Vasudeva Reddy. Investigators allege that he leveraged these connections, along with his links to alleged syndicate members Raj Reddy and Kiran Kumar, to ensure that transportation sub-contracts were awarded to select entities.
The ED is also examining financial transactions and fund transfers made under these sub-contract arrangements as part of its ongoing investigation.
