NELLORE: Minister for municipal administration and urban development Ponguru Narayana on Saturday said the DSR High School being developed at Moolapeta in Nellore would emerge as a model educational institution for Andhra Pradesh upon completion.

Inspecting the ongoing works at the school, being developed by the DSR Group, the minister said the government was committed to upgrading government schools with modern infrastructure and improved learning facilities.

He recalled that VR High School in Nellore had been modernised through CSR funding and said a similar approach was being adopted for DSR High School.

The school is being developed with laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, English, Computers and Robotics, besides sports facilities. The project, estimated to cost about Rs. 20 crore, is being implemented in phases, with the first phase nearing completion.

Narayana appreciated DSR Group chairman Sudhakar Reddy for supporting the initiative and said the participation of industrialists and philanthropists in strengthening government education was encouraging. He expressed confidence that the institution would set a benchmark for quality education in the state.

Sudhakar Reddy said the school was being developed in line with the minister’s vision and would provide a modern learning environment for students. The campus will include advanced laboratories, fully equipped classrooms, a playground, drinking water facilities, a first-aid room and residential quarters for teachers and staff.

He said the institution would have 14 types of classrooms, modern computer facilities and upgraded furniture. The project, he added, was nearing completion and would be ready for inauguration soon.

Mayor Devarakonda Sujatha, district educational officer R. Balaji Rao and local leaders accompanied the minister during the inspection.
