Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Government Employees Association has sought immediate appointments to the state Commissionerate of Enquiries, warning that disciplinary proceedings against nearly 200 government officers have been stalled for the past 18 months.

The independent body, tasked with conducting departmental inquiries against gazetted and All India Service officers, became defunct after four members appointed by the previous government resigned following the formation of the present administration.
The commissionerate was established to handle sensitive cases related to revenue-generating departments, including commercial taxes, excise, registration and transport, as well as Anti-Corruption Bureau matters.
“The government’s objective of ensuring disciplinary accountability is not being achieved,” the association said in a press release issued on Saturday.
In the absence of a functional commission, inquiries are either pending or being conducted by officers within their own departments, defeating the purpose of an independent mechanism and raising concerns about transparency and conflict of interest.
The association said it had met the Chief Secretary on August 19, 2025, to seek redressal, but no appointments have been made even after nearly four months. It has now appealed to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and senior officials to intervene and resolve the issue at the earliest.
