Anantapur: A hand detached from a body has been found in the dumping yard of the Anantapur Government General Hospital (GGH) on Friday, casting a shadow on maintenance at the hospital premises.

Generally, clinical waste is moved to the dump yard of the GGH every day. Once it reaches certain levels, Anantapur municipality shifts the waste to the regular garbage yard on the outskirts of the city.

Authorities received a jolt when the picture of a human hand found in the Anantapur GGH dump yard started going viral on the social media. This immediately led to hospital staff taking corrective action.

Sources said the detached hand probably is from the post mortem section of the hospital. They must have been negligent in stacking the remains properly.

People’s organisations have demanded action against those responsible, as the negligence has occurred in AP Health minister’s native district.
