Amaravati: A depression has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and is likely to intensify into a deep depression within the next 24 hours, the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority said.
The system is expected to cross the coast between Paradip and Sagar Island by Monday, officials said.
Due to its impact, strong winds with speeds of 55–65 kmph are likely along the north coastal Andhra region. The sea is expected to remain rough, and coastal residents have been advised to stay alert.
Fishermen have been warned against venturing into the sea until further notice.
