The rains and strong gales uprooted trees and electric poles and caused extensive damage to standing crops in north Andhra region.
In the first incident, an elderly couple was killed as the mud wall of their house collapsed on them in the heavy rain and gales at Savaratubburu village of Hamsarali panchayat in Mandasa mandal, Srikakulam district.

Depression: IMD said the weather system over Odisha moved north-northwestwards and weakened into a depression. “It is very likely to move north-northwest wards across interior Odisha and weaken gradually into a well-marked low pressure.”
Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Parvathipuram Manyam districts in north Andhra region are on a high alert as Vamsadhara, Nagavali, Mahendra Tanaya, Gosthani and other rivers were in spate due to heavy inflows from the catchment areas of Odisha. Irrigation officials released 92,021 cusecs of water from the Gotta barrage on Vamsadhara river in Srikakulam district.
The district administration issued a second warning to low-lying areas and directed the officials of irrigation, revenue etc to remain alert.
