DC Lensman Manikanta Receives 2025 National Photo Contest Award

VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh CR Media Academy chairman Alapati Suresh Kumar said a photograph incorporates many emotions and is equivalent to thousands of stories. He spoke on the occasion of the 186th World Photography Day, celebrated with grandeur on Tuesday at the Gandhinagar Press Club in Vijayawada under the auspices of the Andhra Pradesh Photojournalists Association (APPJA).
A photography competition related to spot and general category news organised as part of the celebrations received 552 entries from nine states. Out of these, 50 photographs have been selected for awards. Deccan Chronicle Rajahmundry photographer A. Manikanta Kumar received an award in the general category of the National Photo Contest-2025 from Alapati Suresh Kumar and NTR district collector Dr. G. Lakshmisha.
In a separate programme held in Visakhapatnam on Tuesday, Deccan Chronicle photographer P. Narasimha Murthy was felicitated by GVMC commissioner Kethan Garg after winning an Achievement Award in the recently concluded National Photo Contest. The event was part of the World Photography Day celebrations organised by the VPJA at the GVMC Heritage Museum.
Dr Lakshmisha underlined the significant role that photojournalists play in society. They not only spread awareness about welfare schemes and programmes but also highlight shortcomings, he pointed out.
“In building Viksit Bharat and Swarnandhra, photojournalists are important partners,” he emphasised.
