Vijayawada: Home minister Vangalapudi Anitha reiterated the coalition government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of women and children. She conducted a review with SPs and ASPs from Guntur, Palnadu, Bapatla, Prakasam and Nellore districts on Saturday.

The minister announced the establishment of Cyber Crime Police Stations in all districts to strengthen digital crime prevention. She commended Prakasam district for recording zero cybercrime cases in the past three months, citing effective coordination with prosecutors.

Anita praised cybercrime recovery efforts in Guntur and Bapatla, and noted partnerships with private agencies and ongoing awareness campaigns in Nellore. She highlighted that 30 POCSO convictions have been secured since the coalition took office, reflecting its focus on justice and child protection.

Security is also being bolstered in sensitive locations such as the High Court, Secretariat, capital region, party offices, and political leaders’ residences. Ten new police stations have been proposed under modernisation efforts.

Criticising the previous YSRC government, Anitha said police recruitment and infrastructure had been neglected. She stated that surveillance systems, including CCTV, fingerprinting and body-worn cameras, were restored with ₹10–12 crore invested. CCTV now aids in solving nearly 70% of criminal cases. Plans are in place to install 5,000–10,000 CCTV cameras per district, and citizens are encouraged to install them in homes, shops, and schools.

She also highlighted the use of drones for crowd monitoring and crime prevention, citing successful deployment at Kotappakonda and Bapatla beach. Lifeguards in Bapatla are being trained under SDRF protocols for better rescue operations.

Anita added that a proposal has been submitted to CRDA for 8 acres in Tullur for police housing. Recruitment for 6,000 constables is underway, and recent court clearance has enabled the promotion of 95-batch CIs to DSPs.

Earlier, the minister inspected the Guntur district SP office and participated in the Swachh Andhra – Swachh Diwas programme.

The review was attended by Guntur Range IG Sarva Sreshth Tripathi, SPs Satish Kumar (Guntur), Damodar (Prakasam), K. Srinivasa Rao (Palnadu), Tushar Dudi (Bapatla), and Nellore Additional SP Sowjanya, among others.
