Cordon-And-Search Operations Intensified Across Nellore
Police said similar operations would continue across the district to strengthen public safety.
NELLORE: Police on Wednesday conducted cordon-and-search operations in multiple areas of Nellore district as part of efforts to strengthen law and order.
The operations were carried out between 5.30 am and 7.30 am in Old Kaligiri under Kaligiri police station limits and Bhagath Singh Colony under Nawabpet police station limits, focusing on crime-prone areas, suspects and illegal activities.
At Old Kaligiri, a team led by Circle Inspector P. Subba Rao conducted searches in about 170 houses. Police seized 48 two-wheelers and one autorickshaw for lack of valid documents. A rowdy-sheeter was identified, summoned to the police station and counselled.
In Bhagath Singh Colony, Circle Inspector Venugopal Reddy led a team of around 70 personnel. Nearly 500 houses were searched. Police seized six vehicles without valid documents and identified three rowdy-sheeters and six suspects linked to previous cases. They were taken to the station, counselled and warned.
Officials said the operations were aimed at preventing crime and monitoring anti-social activities. Awareness programmes on traffic rules, property offences, women’s safety and drug abuse were also conducted.
