Cops Step Up Night Vigil With STF Teams In Nellore

Nellore: SPSR Nellore district police have intensified special enforcement measures to curb anti-social and unlawful activities during night hours across Nellore city.

Following directions from the superintendent of police, dedicated Special Task Force (STF) teams led by sub-inspectors have been deployed in every police station limits for continuous night patrolling and surveillance in vulnerable areas.

Police have expanded drunk-and-drive checks at key junctions and intensified action against open drinking in public places. Extensive vehicle checks are also being conducted to trace stolen vehicles, verify documents and monitor suspicious movements.

Special inspections are underway at lodges and guest houses to detect illegal activities and suspicious occupants. Police said digital crime mapping is being used to identify crime-prone areas and monitor rowdy-sheeters, absconding accused, non-bailable warrant offenders and ganja peddlers.

In a related operation, police conducted a cordon-and-search drive in Janardhan Reddy Colony under Gudur One Town police station limits, inspecting nearly 200 houses. Seven two-wheelers without valid documents were seized.

Police also organised awareness sessions on cybercrime, online betting, anti-human trafficking laws and drug abuse for students of Adi Sankara Engineering College.

Citizens were urged to report suspicious activities through Dial 112 or the district control room.
