Cops Book 64 Cases Against Helmetless Riders In Nellore

NELLORE: Nellore police launched a special district-wide drive against helmetless riding on Monday. Conducted under the supervision of senior police authorities, the police booked 64 cases and imposed fines totalling ₹53,640 against two-wheeler riders for violating the rule.
Acting on the directions of the DGP, police teams intensified checks and caught two-wheeler riders riding without helmets. Officials stressed that helmets are not just a legal requirement but a life-saving necessity.
“Most of the fatalities in two-wheeler accidents occur because riders ignore helmets. We urge everyone to use certified helmets and car occupants to wear seatbelts without fail,” SP Krishnakant said.
The police also cautioned against over speeding, triple-riding, drunk driving, using mobile phones while driving and allowing minors to operate vehicles. Violators will be subjected to action under Motor Vehicles Act.
Citizens were also advised to prioritise their own safety and that of their families by adhering to road rules. For emergencies, the people can reach police through Dial 112 service.
