CM To Launch Nethanna Sevalo Scheme on Aug. 7

 VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will launch the Nethanna Sevalo scheme on National Handloom Day on August 7 at Chirala in Bapatla district to provide annual financial assistance of Rs 25,000 to eligible handloom weavers.

Handlooms and jute minister S. Savitha reviewed arrangements for the launch of the scheme with special chief secretary (Jute) R.P. Sisodia and senior officials at the Secretariat on Monday.

The minister said the alliance government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, had introduced the scheme to improve the livelihoods of handloom weavers and help them lead a dignified life.

She said the government was also implementing several welfare measures for the weaving community. Eligible weavers aged above 50 years are being covered under the NTR Bharosa pension scheme, while handloom weavers receive free electricity up to 200 units and powerloom weavers up to 500 units. The government is also extending benefits such as thrift fund support and Mudra loans, she said.

Savitha said the Chief Minister was implementing both the promises made during the elections and additional welfare initiatives for the benefit of the people.

She appealed to all eligible weavers to submit their applications for the scheme by 5 pm on August 5 so that the financial assistance could be disbursed from August 7.
