CM to Invite PM for Bhogapuram Airport Inauguration
Naidu said the airport would be a game changer for AP
VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will leave for New Delhi on Wednesday to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the inauguration of the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district, scheduled for August 1.
The CM is also expected to meet Home Minister Amit Shah and ministers Piyush Goyal, Manohar Lal Khattar and C.R. Patil to discuss issues concerning Andhra Pradesh.
Naidu will depart Amaravati at 7.30 am, reach New Delhi by 10 am, stay overnight after completing his engagements. He would return to the state Secretariat Thursday morning.
Ahead of the visit, Naidu held a teleconference with senior officials, district collectors and public representatives, directing them to organise the airport inauguration as a historic event with active public participation from across North Andhra.
Describing the Bhogapuram international airport as a "growth engine" for north Andhra, he said the project would provide global connectivity and transform the region into a major logistics hub. He said the airport, along with the passenger terminal, Aviation University, skill development centre, aviation hub and Edu City, would usher in a new era of economic growth.
Naidu said the airport would be a game changer for AP, attracting investments in AI data centres, logistics, tourism and industries while unlocking the potential of rare earth minerals in north Andhra. He added that the project would significantly strengthen the Visakhapatnam economic region and generate large-scale employment opportunities.
The CM directed officials to ensure that the spirit of the inauguration reached every household in the six north Andhra districts over the next nine days. He asked district administrations to showcase Araku coffee, the region's culture and traditional art forms during the celebrations and create awareness about the airport's economic benefits.
As a mark of gratitude, Naidu announced that farmers and landowners who had parted with land for the airport project would be honoured with a one-time complimentary air journey.
