CM Naidu Sets a Target of ₹3.47 Lakh as AP’s Per Capita Income
Naidu said all government departments must prepare advance plans and set short, medium and long-term goals.
Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has set a target Rs,3,47,871 per capita income for Andhra Pradesh by the end of the current fiscal.
“We must enhance the people’s living standards,” Naidu said while chairing a review meeting with officials from the planning and other departments here on Monday. He called upon the officials to focus on the state’s gross output and key performance indicators.
The CM said all government departments must prepare advance plans and set short, medium and long-term goals.
Naidu said, “We must identify global trends and seize the emerging opportunities. Calling for improving the per capita income, he projected a goal of `5.42 lakh by 2029. He called for taking family as a unit while designing the schemes and programmes and said welfare schemes and new initiatives should ensure an increase in the people’s income.
“We must utilise natural resources to the maximum. The best technology should be integrated into governance to provide improved services ranging from healthcare to agriculture. If we develop vision-centred governance while protecting the environment and integrating technology, we will achieve good results,” he said.
He underscored the need for providing value addition to the products. The planning should be aligned with national and international changes. Value addition would help realise growth in the state’s gross output.
Naidu said that in the mining and agriculture production, Gross Value Addition (GVA) could be a primary factor. If the Gross State Domestic Product witnessed a growth, it would ensure both welfare and development.
Meanwhile, the officials informed the CM that horticulture crops had generated GVA of `1,26,098 crore while aqua-related industries recorded a GVA of `1.12 lakh crore.
The chief minister called for developing indicators for each sector and said that at present, 42 indicators were being measured through ‘AWARE’. He felt the need for other departments to have similar standards and set up their own indicators. If they could do so in sectors like electricity, transportation, water resources, industries and Swachh Andhra, it would help achieve better living standards.
Naidu directed the authorities to make 700 government services online from Aug. 15.
He cited the example of Singapore, which has a population of only 60 lakh. “Yet, with limited resources, it has achieved major feats. India with over 140 crore people and immense resources has the potential to achieve far greater success.
He said, “We should not assume ourselves to be intelligent without observing the outside world. If the information collected through the Real Time Governance Society is consolidated, it would become a great asset for the state. The data can be analysed and utilised through Artificial Intelligence to enhance the capacity of government departments in the state.”
However, Naidu advised every department to review the progress made in every quarter to keep on improving their performance further.”
