Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has strongly condemned the alleged assault of a woman in Guntur and ordered immediate and stringent action against those involved. He asserted that political affiliation would not shield anyone from the law. A criminal case has been registered, the accused has been arrested, and the party functionary involved is being suspended, he stated.

"My government’s commitment is unequivocal: the law will be enforced fairly and firmly, without fear or favour. No individual will receive protection on account of political affiliation. Every woman in Andhra Pradesh must have the confidence that her dignity and safety will always be protected, he stated further.

The shocking incident reportedly occurred on the night of July 15 at Krishnababu Colony following a dispute over a drinking water motor connection. According to police, an argument broke out while the woman was collecting water from a tap connected to a motor installed in front of her house.

Police said 21st Division TDP secretary Mallela Venkataramana Murthy and his family members allegedly attacked the woman. As she attempted to run into her house, a transgender person identified as Madhavi allegedly stripped and assaulted her by kicking her.

Minister Nara Lokesh also condemned the incident and issued a clear warning that there is zero tolerance for such behaviour. If you disgrace a woman, you disgrace the values we stand for - and you will face the full force of the law, no matter who you are, he wrote in a post shared on social media.

The victim lodged a complaint with police on July 16. Nagarampalem Circle Inspector Satyanarayana said a case was subsequently registered against nine persons, including Murthy, and an investigation was underway.
