CM Naidu Calls For Consensus On National Examination Reforms
The CM stressed the need for a transparent and credible examination system developed through consensus among states, taking into account India’s linguistic diversity and regional requirements.
Vijayawada:Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has called for comprehensive national examination reforms to ensure equal opportunities and fairness for students across the country, irrespective of their regional, linguistic and educational backgrounds.
Naidu was interacting with the Examination Reforms High-Powered Task Force, led by its chairman Nandan Nilekani, at the state secretariat on Wednesday. Education minister Nara Lokesh welcomed Nilekani on his arrival.
The CM stressed the need for a transparent and credible examination system developed through consensus among states, taking into account India’s linguistic diversity and regional requirements. He said the examination system should reflect the ideas and aspirations of the younger generation.
“Educational reforms should go beyond examinations and marks and focus on developing students’ skills, creativity and analytical abilities,” he said.
Lokesh outlined policies being implemented in Andhra Pradesh and the use of technology across various sectors. He also shared his views on reforms needed in the national examination system.
The education minister said the new framework should reduce student stress rather than add to their academic burden. He called for better national-level coordination to ensure that students moving between states for higher education or employment did not face difficulties related to language, education systems or certification.
He also explained the state’s initiative to develop a data lake by integrating information from various sectors to support informed decision-making.
Nilekani said the task force was focusing on preventing question paper leaks, effective use of technology, strengthening cybersecurity and enhancing digital forensics to improve the examination process.
He said the task force was visiting different states to understand existing examination systems, challenges and suggestions for reform. It was collecting feedback from stakeholders to develop an effective national framework.
Nilekani also expressed interest in policies and technological initiatives being implemented by Andhra Pradesh.
