NELLORE: The India chapter of the International Chamber of Writers and Artists (CIESART) has officially launched under the leadership of Dr Ashok Chakravarthy Tholana as president, with Nellore-based poet Dr Perugu Ramakrishna as vice-president. The appointment has been endorsed by the CIESART global standing committee.

Founded in 2010, CIESART is a global organisation with legal recognition in Spain, Peru, and Switzerland and representation in nearly 80 countries across all continents.

Marking its Indian debut, CIESART India initiated its first global campaign titled “International Tribute to India’s Independence – The Eternal Flame of Freedom.” The poetic tribute honours India's Independence Day (August 15) and celebrates values such as dignity, unity, and freedom.

The campaign has received overwhelming support from 90+ poets and writers across 40 countries, including 10 Indian contributors. Submissions were received via the official CIESART India Facebook link.
