TIRUPATI: Two lives, including that of a six-year-old boy, were lost and three others sustained injuries when a car bound for Tirumala overturned on the national highway at Kasipenta in Chandragiri mandal on Friday morning.

According to police, the car was travelling from Lageri in Karnataka to the hill town of Tirumala when the driver reportedly lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn. The deceased have been identified as Karre Howda (62) and Nutan (6), both of whom died on the spot due to the impact of the crash.

Locals, who witnessed the accident, immediately, alerted the police. They rushed the injured – Manjunatha, Soumya, and Shantamma – to a hospital with the help of an ambulance. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. Preliminary inquiries suggest that over-speeding could have led to the mishap.
