Vijayawada: Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma on Tuesday called upon the youth to contribute to nation-building with a spirit of service and public commitment.

Addressing a Youth Parliament programme organised by Jana Seva Society in Vijayawada on the theme, Transformation of India after 2014 – Role of Youth, Sharma said young people should play an active role in the country’s development through national awareness and social responsibility.

He said Chhattisgarh had been transformed into a Maoist-free state under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Sharma urged the youth not to depend solely on artificial intelligence and search engines, but to engage directly with people to understand their problems and participate in social service.

He asked them to use their knowledge, energy and time for the country's development and encouraged them to participate in democratic processes and public life.

Paying tributes to Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, Sharma said nationalism formed the foundation for the country's development and added that people were increasingly supporting development and transparent governance.
