TIRUPATI: A case has been registered against former MLA P. Ravindranath Reddy of YSRC for making political statements at Tirumala, in violation of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Board’s resolution banning political speeches in the temple town.

After having darshan of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala on Sunday, Ravindranath Reddy, spoke to the media outside the temple, where he criticised the state government and commented on the Pulivendula ZPTC by-election in Kadapa district.

The TTD Board of trustees had recently resoluted to prohibit political speeches and allegations at Tirumala in order to maintain the sanctity of the temple.

Following a written complaint by vigilance inspector V. Damodar, the Tirumala One Town police registered a case under Section 223 of BNS against the former MLA and initiated an investigation into the matter. Sources indicate that the department is likely to issue a notice asking Ravindranath to explain why legal action should not be initiated against him for violating the TTD’s rule.
