Nalgonda: Revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Saturday accused the BRS for relying on false publicity for its political survival. He said that the earlier BRS government has misused Rs 1,052 crore through the information and public relations department for false publicity to misguide the people for its political benefit during its 10-year rule.

After losing power, the BRS was continuing its false propaganda against the Congress government through various means to tarnish its image, Srinivas Reddy said, speaking at a public meeting held to mark the inauguration of an oil farm factory at Ashwaraopet in Bhadradri Kothagudem district.

Srinivas Reddy said that the commitment of the Congress government, which was shown in implementation of welfare and development schemes in the last one and half years, would continue for the rest of the term.

The state government was paying Rs 6,500 crore per month as interest for the Rs 8.19 lakh crore borrowings of the BRS government, he said. “BRS leaders looted the public money in the name of Kaleshwaram lift irrigation scheme by terming it as the ‘eighth wonder of the world’ and sent Telangana into indebtedness. Overcoming the financial crunch, the Congress government is fulfilling its poll promises, he added.

He said that the Congress government aimed at developing the backward Ashwaraopet area in all fronts. Electrification of all thandas and villages was completed during the Congress government of Dr Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy.

Srinivas Reddy said that residential schools were run in the abandoned poultry farms and rice mills by the BRS government. The Congress government had taken up the construction of state-of-the-art buildings with international-level infrastructure for the Young India Integrated Schools. The cosmetic charges and diet charges given to students in state-run hostels and residential schools had been hiked, pointed out.
