Brahmanandam Says Literature Spreads Knowledge, Fosters Empathy
The Amaravati Literature Festival has reaffirmed SRM University-AP's commitment to cultural exchange, interdisciplinary dialogue, and holistic education.
Vijayawada:Actor and comedian Kanneganti Brahmanandam has described literature as the language of human emotions, which plays a role in preserving cultural heritage, nurturing empathy, and transmitting wisdom of generations.
Addressing the valedictory session of the second Amaravati Literature Festival (ALF) 2026 at the SRM University-AP in Amaravati on Friday, he said stories, poetry, and classical texts have continued to offer valuable insights into human experiences despite rapid technological advances.
Referring to Telugu literary icons Vemana, Srirangam Srinivasa Rao (Sri Sri), and Dhurjati, Brahmanandam wanted literature made accessible to people across generations and backgrounds. He asked young people to cultivate reading habits, saying literature strengthens imagination, emotional awareness and independent thinking.
SRM-AP vice-chancellor Prof. Ch. Satish Kumar said the ALF has brought literature closer to young minds and encouraged engagement with diverse cultures and perspectives. Prof. Vishnupad, Dr. Sayantan Thakur, and Dr. Argha Basu said the second edition of Amaravati Literature Festival has reaffirmed literature's relevance in a changing world.
Organised by Easwari School of Liberal Arts from October 7 to October 9 with the theme “Stories for a Changing World”, the ALF has featured sessions by authors Roopa Pai, Samhita Arni, and Dinesh C. Sharma, book influencer Suruchi Garg and literary content creator Amit Bharti.
The concluding day featured Prahelika, a quiz competition for college and university students hosted by Snigdha Bhaswati.
