BJP Leaders Seek Support for NDA Mayoral Candidate in Anantapur
BJP leaders Lanka Dinakar and Sai Kumar campaigned for NDA-backed mayoral candidate K. Ajesh Babu, promising better water supply, drainage and civic infrastructure in Anantapur.
Senior BJP leader Lanka Dinakar and actor-turned-politician Sai Kumar have intensified their campaign for NDA-backed BJP mayoral candidate K. Ajesh Babu, appealing to voters to support the alliance in all 62 divisions of Anantapur Municipal Corporation to transform the city into “Viksit Anantapuram”.
Addressing a press conference, Lanka Dinakar criticised the previous YSRC government for failing to complete key urban infrastructure projects between 2019 and 2024. He said several drinking water supply and stormwater drainage works remained incomplete when the NDA government assumed office.
He said ₹145.14 crore was allocated under AMRUT 1.0 for drinking water projects in Anantapur, but only ₹67.25 crore had been spent by 2024. He also alleged that stormwater drainage works worth ₹21.37 crore were only 15% complete.
Sai Kumar urged voters to support the NDA, stressing the need for safe drinking water, underground drainage, better sanitation and improved civic amenities. He called for effective utilisation of Central funds and completion of pending infrastructure projects.
The leaders cited ₹305.60 crore sanctioned under AMRUT 2.0 and ₹430.67 crore through the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank for drinking water and sewage management projects in urban local bodies across the district.
Ajesh Babu promised to prioritise household drinking water supply, underground drainage, road improvements, traffic management, beautification and other civic amenities. He also referred to proposed works worth ₹857.71 crore covering stormwater drainage, sewage treatment, canal development and water supply.
