The BJP on Monday staged protests in Kakinada and Rajamahendravaram over the case involving Shaik Sadiq Khan and announced a wider agitation at mandal headquarters across the region.

BJP district president P. Nagendra and MLC Somu Veerraju submitted a memorandum to the district SP. Party leaders and cadres also submitted memoranda to SHOs at mandal headquarters.

Veerraju alleged that the case should not be treated as an offence by one person. Sadiq Khan, he said, maintained international links and was given shelter by some individuals in Delhi. Khan had pressured the family of panchayat raj engineer T. Nooka Raju to convert to Islam, he said.

Khan killed Jagadeesh Reddy, husband of Soujanya, by administering an injection, Veerraju said, and demanded that police establish the full facts of the case. He urged the Intelligence Bureau to examine the matter.

Veerraju alleged that shopping malls and gyms were being used to target young women. He criticised the state home minister and DGP for their “inadequate” response to the issue and said, “Hindus lack protection not only in Pakistan and Bangladesh but also in India.”

In Kakinada, the Hindu Chaitanya Vedika organised a rally from Balaji Cheruvu to the collectorate, seeking a comprehensive inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of Nooka Raju’s family members and stringent action against the accused. Representatives submitted memoranda to the collector and SP.

BJP district president Bikkina Visweswara Rao and other leaders alleged that Sadiq Khan had deceived Nooka Raju’s family and blackmailed them. Rao alleged that Nooka Raju’s grandson Riaz Karthikeya Reddy had undergone rifle training with Sadiq Khan through his school and that Khan subsequently obtained private photographs of the boy’s mother and used those to blackmail the family.

He also alleged that Khan extorted cash and gold from the family and administered a substance to Nooka Raju’s son-in-law, Jagadeesh Reddy, after noticing his ill health.

Chaitanya Vedika state president P. Vengala Rao, Kambala Srinivasa Rao and others participated in the protest.
