Visakhapatnam: A birthday party celebration at the hangout spot in Siripuram Junction in Visakhapatnam has captured widespread attention on social media after videos of the event went viral over the weekend.

The celebration, which took place on Friday, featured a young woman and approximately 30 young men celebrating at the junction’s designated selfie point area.

The viral footage shows the group engaged in typical birthday festivities, including cutting cake, applying cake on each other's faces, and using decorative electric fire guns during the celebration.

Visakhapatnam city police commissioner Sankhabrata Bagchi addressed the viral videos, stating that no formal complaints have been received regarding the incident. "We have not received any public complaints. My phone number is available to the public, but no complaints were received till Monday morning," the commissioner told this correspondent.

The police official clarified that the celebration did not violate any regulations, noting that "there was nothing wrong and it was just a celebration. The place where they were celebrating is not on the road, and it's at the arena, which is meant for public use. It's a small space where people can chill and have fun."

The commissioner added that police would register a case if any complaints were filed by the public.

Local vendors and shopkeepers in the area said that such celebrations are not uncommon at the junction. People come, cut cakes, and movie shooting also happens, but that day there were many young people.

Madhav, a trolley shop owner, noted some concerning behaviour, mentioning that "some were acting like they were drunk" during the celebration.
