VISAKHAPATNAM: The second Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Ports Conclave will be held in Visakhapatnam on July 14 and 15, according to an official release from the Visakhapatnam Port Authority.
The two-day conclave, themed “Navigating the Future: Blue Economy, Innovation, and Sustainable Partnerships”, will bring together ministerial delegations, port authorities, maritime experts, and business leaders from BIMSTEC member countries—Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. Visakhapatnam also hosted the first BIMSTEC Ports Conclave in 2019.
The second edition will focus on unlocking private investment and infrastructure partnerships across BIMSTEC ports, fast-tracking the Kaladan Multimodal Transit Corridor and related logistics networks, and identifying and promoting coastal tourism circuits and heritage cruise routes. Discussions will also include strategies for upskilling the port workforce and developing future-ready talent pools.
Advancing the Blue Economy through the adoption of green energy, sustainable logistics, and digital transformation will also feature prominently in the agenda.
Aligned with Maritime India Vision 2030 and Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, the conclave will include sessions on Harit Sagar (Green Ports), shore-to-ship power supply, integration of green hydrogen, decarbonisation pathways, smart logistics corridors, special economic zones (SEZs), and port-linked industrialisation.
