Bhumana accuses Naidu of betraying AP with ‘Super Six’ promises
Tirupati: YSRC senior leader and former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy has criticised Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, accusing him of betraying the people of Andhra Pradesh and reneging on his election promises.
Addressing the media at a press conference here on Tuesday, Karunakar Reddy alleged that Naidu has contradicted his earlier statements regarding his “Super Six” promises.
According to Karunakar Reddy, Naidu claimed these promises would be fulfilled only after achieving a 15 per cent economic growth rate, despite campaigning on them before the elections.
He pointed out the unfulfilled promises made by Naidu, including Rs 15,000 under the “Thalli ki Vandanam” scheme, Rs 20,000 for farmers, Rs 3,000 as an unemployment allowance and Rs 18,000 for women above 50 years of age.
Karunakar Reddy alleged that Naidu later cited a financial crisis as the reason for not implementing these initiatives.
Karunakar Reddy accused Naidu of inflating figures related to the state’s debt, initially claiming it was as high as Rs 14 lakh crore, then revising it to Rs 12 lakh crore and finally settling at Rs 10 lakh crore under the previous government led by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
He contrasted this with Jagan Mohan Reddy’s focus on welfare and development, despite borrowing only Rs 2.3 lakh crore.
Labelling Naidu’s governance as deceitful, Karunakar Reddy criticised him for launching schemes like “Thalli ki Vandanam” and “Annadata Sukhibhava”, which he claimed turned into burden rather than providing relief to the public. He also accused Naidu of exploiting religious sentiments for political gains.
Highlighting the governance of Jagan Mohan Reddy during the Covid-19 pandemic, Karunakar Reddy said it stood as a model for the country, despite Opposition efforts to spread misinformation. He further alleged that Naidu’s government had cut pensions to over 5 lakh beneficiaries, increased electricity tariffs and promoted widespread liquor sales, leading to the proliferation of belt shops and illegal bars across the state.
Karunakar Reddy asserted that Andhra Pradesh had become a state dominated by alcohol addiction under Naidu’s rule, causing significant social harm.
He emphasised the growing public dissatisfaction with Naidu’s leadership and called on citizens to reject deceptive politics in favour of governance centred on welfare and progress.
