Bhagirath Maharshi Statue Unveiled in Visakhapatnam

Minister Savita praises the sage’s legacy at BC welfare event in Visakhapatnam.

Visakhapatnam: The statue of Bhagirath Maharshi was unveiled in Gajuwaka, Visakhapatnam, on Sunday, by Minister for Backward Classes Welfare, S. Savita, in observance of Bhagirath Maharshi Jayanti.

Speaking at the state-level event, Minister Savita described Bhagirath Maharshi as "a great sage, an embodiment of altruism, dedication, and patience." She praised the Sagar community, acknowledging them as descendants of Bhagirath, and commended their hard work, persistence, and honesty.

"The dedication and perseverance of Bhagirath will never be forgotten," said Savita. "His legacy should inspire BC communities to strive for greater success with similar determination."

The ceremony began with the unveiling of the statue at Ward 71, with Savita joined by public representatives and officials. The minister also highlighted the Chief Minister's ongoing efforts to uplift Backward Classes through various welfare schemes.

Local MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao expressed satisfaction with the event, stressing the importance of passing on such historical legacies to future generations. He also assured that steps would be taken to establish a park in the area in honour of Bhagirath Maharshi.
