Srikakulam: The Baruva Beach in Srikakulam district, located around 220 km from Visakhapatnam, is all set to come alive with the two-day Baruva Festival on May 3 and 4. This year, the festival promises to be grander than ever, blending adventure, cultural heritage, and environmental awareness.

District officials, led by collector Swapnil Dinkar Pundkar and joint collector Farman Ahmed Khan, have finalised arrangements to host the festival in a “more prestigious manner.” The event will feature eight major activities, including zip-lining along the coast, banana boat rides, ATV biking and water zorbing—making it a haven for adventure seekers.

A major highlight will be the 3rd state-level kayaking and stand-up paddling championship, attracting 70-80 athletes from across Andhra Pradesh. Safety measures are being prioritised, and participation fees kept affordable to encourage greater involvement.

In addition, scuba diving instructor Balarama Naidu shared that the state’s sea karaoke competition will return for the third time, with 140 participants vying for selection to the national championship scheduled in Machilipatnam from May 16–18.

The festival also emphasises conservation, with a special turtle release programme aimed at raising awareness about marine life. A cultural night will showcase local traditions and folk performances, organised under the supervision of the Srikakulam RDO.

To ensure a smooth experience, officials are focusing on infrastructure such as green resorts, adequate parking, clean food stalls, barricading, and uninterrupted power. The Palasa RDO will oversee overall coordination.
