Vijayawada: Bapatla district collector J. Venkata Murali has personally adopted ten of the poorest tribal families in Cherukupalli mandal under the state’s P4 scheme, pledging to guide their children towards careers in engineering, medicine, and politics.
The families, hailing from the remote villages of Eastpalem, Balusulapalem, Kumbalavaripalem, and Arambaka, were formally adopted during a gram sabha held at the MDO office in Cherukupalli on Thursday.
The collector met each family individually to understand their living conditions and financial struggles.
“I will be your guide. It is my responsibility to educate your children well,” the collector told the families, expressing his personal commitment to their upliftment.

Under his personal supervision, each family will be issued job cards under the employment guarantee scheme, and those without banking access will be helped to open accounts. Financial assistance ranging from ₹50,000 to ₹65,000 will be provided. Six families will receive houses, while others will be allotted house plots. Three families will be given autorickshaws along with licences, and one family will receive a buffalo to support dairy farming.
Special provisions include enrolling the Polamma family under the Vatsalya scheme for their two daughters, providing a bicycle for Uppu Durga’s daughter, and arranging medical check-ups for the Edukondalu family to enable eligibility for medical pensions.
The collector has also created a dedicated WhatsApp group to maintain constant communication with the families and ensure their needs are promptly addressed.
