Vijayawada: Union minister of state for rural development Pemmasani Chandrasekhar said bankers have agreed to extend loans to farmers who offered land for the development of Amaravati without insisting on link documents for the past 30 years.

Members of a three-member committee constituted by the state government to resolve issues faced by Amaravati farmers held a meeting at the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) office on Saturday.

Addressing mediapersons later, Chandrasekhar said banks would sanction loans based on documents issued by the CRDA pertaining to returnable plots.

He expressed confidence that farmers’ issues would be resolved and said efforts were under way to provide employment to nearly 10,000 persons from the Amaravati region through ongoing and proposed development works.

The Union minister for state assured justice to Jareebu farmers, stating that the survey of their lands had been completed and further action would be taken based on the committee’s report. Referring to Lanka lands, he said 277 farmers were yet to complete registrations and urged them to do so at the earliest. He also assured that issues related to assigned lands would be resolved.
