Auto Mishap Sparks Ganja, Liquor Row in Prakasam
YSRC leader alleges police were transporting contraband; DSP rejects charge
Nellore: Several people were injured after a car allegedly rammed an auto-rickshaw near Shankavarappadu in Addanki mandal of Prakasam district on Monday. Tension erupted after locals allegedly found around 2 kg of ganja and liquor bottles in the car and questioned the police personnel travelling in it. YSRC Addanki constituency in-charge Dr Ashok Kumar alleged that police were transporting ganja and liquor.
However, Darsi DSP Balamurali Krishna rejected the allegations. He said the Ballikurava and Santhamaguluru SIs were on duty and had stopped to check a motorcyclist behaving suspiciously. During the inspection, they allegedly found ganja and liquor bottles and tried to apprehend the suspect. While pursuing the matter, their vehicle unexpectedly hit an auto travelling ahead, injuring several occupants. The police called 108 emergency services and shifted the injured to hospital. The DSP dismissed allegations of wrongdoing, saying the accident was unexpected and claims that police were drunk or transporting ganja were baseless.
