AU’s Ambedkar Chair Boosts Outreach In Villages

Visakhapatnam:The Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Chair at Andhra University, under the leadership of Chair Professor Prof. M. James Stephen, held a strategic meeting in Pinagadi village, with enthusiastic involvement from leaders and volunteers from five adopted villages: Pinagadi, Gorapalli, Rampuram, Karakavanipalem, and Kotnivanipalem.
Notable representatives such as B. Bhagavan Jayaram, Gorapalli Srinu, Reddy Narayana Rao, and K. Ramu Naidu participated in the discussions alongside party members and community elders. Prof. Stephen assessed the Chair’s current grassroots efforts and presented three key focus areas for the upcoming period: organising a collaborative village meeting to improve collective involvement and launch the Ambedkar help desk; conducting a scientific survey to tackle hard water challenges and recommend safe drinking water solutions to the center; and initiating a pilot IoT-based project for pesticide identification to assist farmers, supported by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
About 30 people participated in the meeting, which was organised by Doctoral Fellows Raj Kumar and Praveen. A community breakfast encouraged fellowship among those present. Village leaders praised the chair's ongoing initiatives and promised to offer their continued support. Prof. Stephen reiterated the Chair’s dedication to inclusive development and empowering grassroots communities.
