AU Marks Centenary With Commemorative Coin, Stamp
The commemorative coin, minted at the Hyderabad Mint, weighs 35 grams and contains 50 per cent silver.
Visakhapatnam: Andhra University marked its centenary celebrations with the release of a ₹100 commemorative coin and a special postage stamp at a grand function held at the Engineering College Grounds here on Monday.
Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan unveiled the special coin and stamp dedicated to the institution’s 100-year journey.
The commemorative coin, minted at the Hyderabad Mint, weighs 35 grams and contains 50 per cent silver. Renowned coin collector Sudhir Lunawat said the coin would not enter regular circulation and would be available exclusively as a collector’s item. He added that it would soon be available for purchase through the official website of the Hyderabad Mint.
Alongside the coin, the special postage stamp was released to honour Andhra University’s rich legacy.
Both the commemorative coin and the postage stamp were described as symbolic tributes to the university’s century-long contribution to education and society.
