Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has rolled out extensive arrangements for the Sankranti festival, announcing the operation of 8,432 special buses in addition to its regular services to meet the seasonal surge in passenger demand. The corporation has made it clear that only normal fares will be charged, with no extra or festival premium on any route.

A major thrust of the plan is rural connectivity, with APSRTC aligning services to demand under the Stree Shakti scheme. Nearly 71% of the special fleet has been earmarked for intra-state operations, and about 6,000 buses will focus on strengthening links between villages, mandals, and towns, where traffic traditionally spikes during the festive period.
For inter-state travel, APSRTC will operate 2,432 special buses to key destinations including Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai, catering to migrants, students, and families returning home for Sankranti.
In the pre-festival phase, the corporation has scheduled 3,857 special services to ease the outbound rush. Of these, 3,500 buses will operate within Andhra Pradesh, while 240 services will originate from Hyderabad, 102 from Bengaluru, and 15 from Chennai.
To manage the post-festival return traffic, APSRTC has planned 4,575 special buses, including 2,500 intra-state services, 1,800 buses to Hyderabad, 200 to Bengaluru, and 75 to Chennai.
Reiterating its passenger-friendly approach, APSRTC said all special services will run at regular fares, with advance reservations opened—especially for long-distance routes—to help commuters plan their journeys smoothly during the Sankranti season.
