APSPDCL Enables UPI Facility For Payments For Its Electricity Bills
The new facility will provide a faster, secure, and transparent payment option: APSPDCL chairman and managing director (CMD) Shivashankar Lotheti
TIRUPATI: Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) has enabled consumers to pay their electricity bills directly through UPI applications, such as PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, and Amazon Pay, making the bill payment process highly convenient.
Until now, APSPDCL consumers could pay electricity bills through the utility's official website, mobile application, Dynamic QR Code and the Mana Mitra WhatsApp Governance platform. With the latest facility, consumers can also pay their bills directly through supported UPI applications.
APSPDCL chairman and managing director (CMD) Shivashankar Lotheti said the new facility will provide a faster, secure, and transparent payment option. He said the initiative is aimed at improving consumer services by simplifying the bill payment process. Consumers can now pay their bill within seconds through their preferred UPI application without having to access APSPDCL digital platforms.
Shivashankar said the company has already initiated awareness programmes to encourage online bill payments. He expressed confidence that the availability of direct bill payments through UPI applications would significantly increase the adoption of digital payments.
The CMD said bill collection centres would be closed in phases, as usage of digital payment improves. Advising consumers to remain cautious while making online transactions, he urged them not to trust unknown links, suspicious messages or fake mobile applications. Consumers should use only authorised and secure digital platforms for paying electricity bills, he underlined.
The digital payments are to cover service areas of Nellore, Tirupati, Chittoor, Annamayya, YSR Kadapa, Kurnool, Nandyal, Anantapur, and Sri Sathya Sai districts.
